The Weekend in Review 4/21
Welcome to one of the most exciting times on the sports calendar — where futures are forged and legacies are tested.
The NFL Draft kicks off Thursday night from iconic Lambeau Field, launching the dreams of the league’s next generation. Over three days, 32 teams will make picks that could reshape their franchises for years to come.
Meanwhile, the NBA Playoffs are already in full swing — and Round 1 wasted no time delivering chaos. From surprise bench heroes to superstar struggles, Game 1s were full of drama, momentum swings, and statements made.
A Wild Start to the NBA Postseason
The NBA play-offs kicked off on Saturday afternoon and we were left with no shortage of headlines heading into the rest of round one.
Giannis Antetokounmpo was let down by his teammates, as the Pacers rolled to a game one victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Jalen Brunson and Cam Payne led the Knicks on a 21-0 run late against the Detroit Pistons to take game one in the Garden.
Russell Westbrook hit a huge three in overtime leading the Denver Nuggets tight rotation to a much needed game one win over the visiting Los Angeles Clippers.
LeBron James looked human as the Lakers fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves thanks in part to Naz Reid hitting six three pointers off the bench for the Wolves.
Oklahoma City completely decimated the Memphis Grizzlies in what looks to be a likely sweep out west.
Cleveland got a huge boost off the bench from 6th Man of the Year contender Ty Jerome, his 28 points off the bench led the home team to a comfortable victory over the Miami Heat.
Boston cruised to a game one win over the Orlando Magic after a slow start to the game, getting 30 points from the underrated Derrick White as they begin their quest to repeat.
Finally, the Golden State Warriors gave the two seeded Houston Rockets a wake up call beating them on Houston's home floor -- showing them this is anything but the regular season now.
Action continues all week and we will see if any teams down 1-0 can rebound
