NFL DFS Preseason Top Plays 8/7/25

With preseason action heating up, now’s the time to dig into the depth charts, camp buzz, and projected playing time to find an edge in fantasy contests. Below, we break down the top quarterback, running back, and wide receiver options to target — backed by camp reports and preseason usage trends — to help you build a winning lineup.
Quarterbacks
Anthony Richardson
Indy is one spot that we have a lot of clarity on at this position tonight. Richardson will play the first quarter and a half, with Daniel Jones finishing up the remainder of the first half. They will then switch roles for the next game. Much has been made of this QB battle during camp, and all reports seem to have Richardson well ahead of Jones in the battle. This has been the most positive camp of Richardson’s career reporting wise, and he clearly has the most fantasy upside on the slate.
Jalen Milroe
Drew Lock and Jalen Milroe will each see time for Seattle tonight, but Milroe is the most intriguing to me. I’ve been high on Milroe since his time at Alabama, and thought he has the second-best QB in this class behind Cam Ward. He has immense upside with his legs – while still raw there is fantasy appeal here in the preseason. Drew Lock is a viable tournament option as well, if the own% flows to Milroe.
Running Backs
Rasheen Ali
We won’t see any Derrick Henry tonight – and I don’t think we will see any Justice Hill either. It sounds like Keaton Mitchell has his roster spot locked in as well, which means we should see a heavy dose of Ali in the preseason beginning tonight.
DJ Giddens
Giddens is entrenched in a battle for the back-up RB spot in Indy and reports have been glowing coming from camp. He was a fantasy beast at Kansas State and can contribute both in the run and pass game.
George Holani
A lot of folks may be locking in Damien Martinez from Seattle – but I would rather pivot to George Holani. Holani played in front of Ashton Jeanty at Boise State and scored twice in the preseason last year.
Shunderrick Powell
Philly is notorious for running the guys on the roster bubble into the ground in preseason games in recent seasons – making Powell an interesting option in all formats. He has been mostly positive reporting out of camp and can contribute in the passing game.
Wide Receivers
AD Mitchell
Mitchell has immense upside as a player, and reports have been extremely positive around his performances in the joint practices against the Ravens this week. He is the type of talent we like to bet on in preseason games – and correlates with one of our top QB options as well.
Jermaine Burton
Burton has a lot to prove to the Bengals after a horrific rookie campaign, and it sounds like he has done his part at Bengals camp. There’s a chance he plays less than anticipated tonight, but I could see the Bengals wanting to see it in a game setting and he is a high quality player relative to the defense he will face tonight.
Tory Horton
Horton has been lighting up Seahawks camp, even drawing comps to Jerry Rice. There is a real chance he laps Marquez Valdes-Scantling for a starting spot coming out of camp – and tonight can start his showcase for the job.
Dont’e Thornton
Thornton, like Mitchell, has the type of speed I love to bet on in these preseason games. He’s tall, 6’5, and comes in with 4.3 speed. He has been the talk of Raiders camp on some days, and I could see him splashing with a big play tonight.
Elijah Cooks
We shouldn’t see any starters for the Eagles – which means these fringe players will be on the field a ton. Cooks is a 6’4 pass catcher out of San Jose State and has drawn rave reviews out of Eagles camp.
