NFL Draft 2025: Ben's Pre-Combine TE Rankings
Welcome to Ben's 2025 NFL Rookie TE Rankings. We will have several articles and updates throughout draft season and this is the first run of TE rankings. Let's dive in...
1. Colestad Loveland
Most will likely have Tyler Warren as the top-overall TE in this class, but I like Loveland enough to take a stand on him as the number one in 2025. Warren is more of a “do it all” type of player while Loveland isn’t the best blocker but he makes up for it in other areas. He’s extremely athletic, and an elite route-runner. He essentially plays as a bigger WR and can win all over the field. He is the type of player that can become a number one option for an offense in my opinion.
2. Tyler Warren
Having Loveland number one is no slight to Warren, as both of these guys should be first round picks in my opinion. He is a former QB coming off a record-breaking season and career at Penn State and fits the mold of a culture changer as a great locker room guy. He isn’t quite as athletic as Loveland but is extremely instinctive and versatile. He would fit well on a team like the Chargers and I would love to see Greg Roman utilize him alongside Justin Herbert this fall.
3. Harold Fannin Jr
Fannin is a local kid to me, growing up in Canton Ohio and despite being undersized for a TE I think he can contribute immediately to whatever team drafts him. He doesn’t have the diversity in terms of route tree like Loveland but he has good speed, great hands and can rack up YAC in a hurry. He will need to prove he can consistently beat press coverage at the NFL level but he is so good as a route runner I have less concerns than most.
4. Gunnar Helm
Helm projects more as a TE2 but I’m not sure if there was a TE in the country that improved more across the entire season than he did. He isn’t a bad route runner, and has room to grow into his body more which would likely help in the blocking department. I don’t think he has near the upside of the three listed above him but has the chance to be a chain mover at the NFL level.
5. Mason Taylor
Taylor also fits more into the TE2 or 3 range but he is very young and could certainly develop/grow into his body more. He’s very smooth as an athlete and we know that he has that in his blood being the son of Jason Taylor. He has more ceiling than Helm in my opinion and could end up being a very good receiving TE at the next level.
