Panthers vs 49ers Predictions: Week 12 Monday Night Football Preview

We finish off the Week 12 slate with a sneaky big game in relation to the postseason picture as the Panthers head to the Bay Area. Kick-off is set for 8:15 ET and the game will be broadcast on ABC and ESPN.

Vegas is expecting plenty of points tonight with a total approaching 50, but I’m not so sure we will see quite that much action. San Francisco has been terrible on defense as of late due to their lack of bodies. They have dealt with a ton of injuries, and teams have been getting pretty much anything they want both on the ground and across the middle of the field. The problem is, I’m not sure I trust Bryce Young to take advantage of this and I still feel as if Dave Canales would prefer to run a run-heavy approach with Rico Dowdle – keeping the high-flying 49ers offense off the field now that they’re back to full health. On the opposite side of the ball, it’s a good spot for the 49ers offense. Carolina is very zone-heavy on defense and that’s been a good thing historically for Brock Purdy. He has his weapons all healthy now, but with the Panthers down their top-two LBs I think we could see another game plan centered around CMC. 

 

Overall, this game COULD get popping and play fast but I think Carolina would be wise to try and keep San Francisco’s offense off the field here. I’m expecting a bit of a slower paced game, that will be lower scoring than Vegas predicts.
