NFL Week 2 Waiver Wire: Top Pickups & Must Adds

Welcome to our weekly waiver wire blog, where we break down the most important fantasy football pickups heading into Week 2!
Dylan Sampson
We saw a ton of RB’s feature in near bellcow level roles in Week 1 – and there were no big injuries of consequence at this position to affect waiver claims. Dylan Sampson played a huge role in a pass-heavy Browns offense, hauling in eight catches. Quinshon Judkins will be returning soon, but I think that will affect early downs more than anything and Sampson can maintain this high-level receiving role. Cleveland won’t be favored in many games, and it’s likely Sampson is the rookie to own there for the majority of the season.
Hollywood Brown
Brown is owned in sharper formats, but when looking at the public own% across Yahoo he is owned in under 30% of total leagues. I fully expect Xavier Worthy to miss extended time with his shoulder injury sustained on the Chiefs opening drive last Thursday and if that’s the case Brown is a priority add. He earned a massive 16 targets against the Chargers and there is no clear target competition for him other than JuJu Smith-Schuster and Tyquan Thornton.
Elic Ayomanor
If Brown isn't available in your league, Ayomanor is the clear winner from Week 1 in my opinion. Tennessee desperately needs someone to step into the number two role behind Calvin Ridley and the Titans coaching staff clearly expect that to be Ayomanor. He posted a solid 25% target share in Week 1 and more importantly ranked top-10 in the league in first read target share per Fantasy Points data. Part of that could be gameplan centric with Calvin Ridley matched up on Pat Surtain, but I was high on Ayomanor coming out of Stanford and I’m fully buying into his bullish role after one game.
Harold Fannin Jr
Juwan Johnson is PPR TE1 after one week of games, but I’m focusing on Harold Fannin for my priority pick-up this week. I was extremely bullish on Fannin heading into Week 1 and it’s clear the Browns were as well. He ran a route on over 60% of dropbacks, led the team in targets and even took a direct snap at wildcat QB. Cleveland led the league in pass attempts – and this was an extremely pass-heavy team with Joe Flacco at the helm two seasons ago.
