World Cup Predictions for 7/10/26
Spain vs Belgium
Score Prediction: Spain 3-0
Spain and Belgium have played entirely different tournaments, and now they meet in the quarter-finals with a date vs France on the line. Spain has been absolutely flawless since their opening match against Cape Verde – which we know now wasn’t even a fluke – and they’ve yet to allow a goal this tournament. Belgium have been wildly inconsistent and wouldn’t be playing in this game if not for an insane comeback at the death against Senegal in their first knockout match. I wrongfully picked against Belgium in their last game – but I think that outcome was much more about how poorly the United States set up and played in comparison to Belgium. I was low on this Belgian side coming into the tournament and I think they’ve found themselves a bit lucky to still be alive. Spain is known as a European powerhouse especially after winning the European championship in 2024 – but they haven’t performed as such on the World Cup stage. They haven’t been to the semi-finals of the World Cup since they won the tournament in 2010 and I think that is going to change today in a dominant fashion.

When I evaluate this game – even with Spain dealing with injuries I just think these two teams are entirely different levels. Belgium has been really opponent dependent – they beat up on weaker teams and struggle vs upper competition and that’s exactly what they’re going to see on the pitch today. As I noted, Spain has yet to allow a goal and a team has yet to even sniff 1.0 xG against them in a match as well. They should have beaten Portugal by 2 or 3 – they just struggled to finish easy chances and I’m expecting them to be more clinical here. There’s going to be a lot of space for Spain to occupy here and that’s why I think this is such a mismatch on paper. Spain is the exact type of team Belgium doesn’t want to face. Senegal carved up the Belgian defense through wide areas and that’s exactly how Spain will attack today. If Spain nets a first half goal – Belgium is really going to have to open up and that’s when the floodgates can open.
