Group E 

Curacao vs Ivory Coast 

Ecuador vs Germany 

 

Ecuador was one of the biggest disappointments for me this tournament. I thought they had sleeper appeal in this group but ultimately they just had nothing to offer in the offensive third and they were unable to rely on their defense. I think they bow out tonight with a defeat at the hands of the Germans while Ivory Coast handles Curacao with ease. Yan Diamonde has been one of the most impressive players for me through the group stage and I’m looking for him to get on the goal sheet tonight.

Group F 

Netherlands vs Tunisia 

Japan vs Sweden 

 

This is going to be the most exciting match window, with both the Netherlands and Japan live to win the group depending on goal differential and Sweden fighting for their lives as well. The dutch have looked fantastic throughout the tournament and we should expect them to handle Tunisia easily scoring three or four goals. This is their chance to lock up the group so we shouldn’t see them let off the gas at any point. You would expect Sweden to show a spirited effort after losing 5-1 to the Dutch, but Japan is just flat out better than them in my opinion. Japan is undefeated in nine in a row with some huge wins over that stretch and they play too technically for Sweden to handle. I love Japan at even money to win this game.

Group D

Turkiye vs United States 

Paraguay vs Australia 

 

The United States has already locked up this group, so we should expect to see a rotated roster tonight whereas Turkiye has played themselves out of the tournament. My main focus here is on Haji Wright, he has yet to see the field for the USMNT at this tournament but I think he has big potential as a goal scorer and would even consider his 2+ goals prop at a good number. I do think Turkiye finds the back of the net, though the BTTS line is too juiced for me at around -160. Paraguay vs Australia should be boring – 4 points is enough to move on so I see both sides content with a draw here and no reason at all to push and risk missing out of the knockout round all together.
